Orange Shirt Sunday

On Sunday, September 27th, the Anglican Church marks Orange Shirt Day in remembrance of the many children taken from their families to reside in Residential Schools for Indigenous Children. We are now learning the horrors of deprivation and abuse many of these children suffered while in residence. Many children died alone

and far away from their families and many survivors still live with this trauma

today. We, as Anglicans, have been called to seek truth and reconciliation

with Indigenous peoples.

Please wear your Orange Shirt “Every Child Matters” to church on September 27th. Please pray for the children, the survivors and their families and for all people and our government to seek justice. Your Outreach Committee seeks to assist in the road to reconciliation with Indigenous people both through our donations to the Wildlands League which works with Indigenous leaders in the James-Hudson Bay area as well as through its donations to INDSPIRE. INDSPIRE provides scholarships for Indigenous students to attend post- secondary education. We are able to donate $10,000 to INDSPIRE as a result of your generosity. These funds provide two $5000 scholarships which are matched to deepen our impact.
