Giving for Growth lays the foundation for the growth of our community and the sustainability of our church building. Over the coming weeks, we are excited to share more details around the initiatives we are investing in. God is up to something incredible at St. Clement’s!
Create a safe, welcoming space for all: $455,000
One of the highlights of summer 2023 was welcoming Theological Intern, Jess Soanes. Jess was with us for four weeks and quickly became part of our community. Jess also uses a wheelchair. Jess was thrilled St. Clement’s had already thought through many barriers to accessibility and she was able to participate fairly easily in the life of the church. There are however areas for improvement, not only for those who use a wheelchair, but for any in need of support with mobility.
We will install accessible washrooms that adhere to current building code regulations and begin to address exterior barriers, such as repairing and relaying flagstone. We will also repair the lift located near the main washrooms that provides access to Canon Nicholson Hall and the lower level of the church building, creating essential accessibility for the Early Learning School. Improving safety code compliance is another priority in this initiative.
Regardless of age, stage or ability we will create a safe space for all to worship and enjoy their time at St. Clement’s.
